HailVan is operated by HailVan Ltd (registered in England and Wales, company number 17408648), of 27 Barnfield Crescent, Manchester, M33 6WJ. You can reach us at hello@hailvan.com.

What HailVan does

HailVan shows you tradespeople working near you and gives you their phone number. That is the whole of it. Using the site is free, and you do not need an account.

Who you are dealing with

Tradespeople listed on HailVan are independent businesses. We do not employ them, supervise them, or carry out their work. Appearing on HailVan is not a recommendation or a guarantee of quality, and we do not check qualifications, insurance or accreditation unless a listing says otherwise.

Any job you agree is a contract between you and that trader — including the price, the work and any guarantee. If something goes wrong with the work, it is a matter between you and them. Please do tell us, though: we would want to know.

For your own protection, ask about insurance and qualifications before work starts, and get the price agreed in writing.

About the map and the times shown

Van positions are deliberately approximate. We move each one by a couple of hundred metres before showing it, so a trader's exact position — and their home — stays private. Positions can also be a few minutes old, and travel times are rough estimates that take no account of traffic or roadworks.

So treat the map as “someone is working in this area”, not as a live tracker. A trader showing as nearby may already be on a job, and we can't promise anyone will answer or accept work.

Fair use

Please don't scrape the site, hammer it automatically, or use trader details for marketing. We rate-limit requests and may block access that causes problems for other people.

Availability, and what we're responsible for

We work hard to keep HailVan running but can't promise it will always be available or always accurate. We're responsible for loss we cause you directly by failing to take reasonable care — but not for the work a trader does, for a trader being unavailable, or for losses we could not reasonably have foreseen.

Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. If you deal with us as a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
